Another warcrime by the US
October 20, 2005I was planning on writing positive a post about the US. Sorry, but canna.

We can now add this to the list.
Two ‘embedded’ journalists have filmed (.rm)/photographed shocking material: taliban warriors being burnt facing west (a true disgrace in the Islamic world), with American soldiers mocking them. This, all as part of psychological warfare.
Respons from the pentagon: “If this is true, we’ll prosecute the ones responsible.” (source: Dutch news TV). The ones responsible.
The US government is responsible.
And that country wants to win the heart and minds of people? They do not understand why they’re hated so much?

>They do not understand why they’re hated so much?
No, they don’t. That’s what I was trying to explain to you earlier. Very few US citizens know or understand why USA is so much hated. They don’t get it and in many cases they don’t even LEARN about such things from their media. Their own government don’t let them “get it”, they keep them into the dark. Americans live in their own world: the world of United States of America.
As for the US government, they don’t care either. They are powerful enough and with enough bombs/arms to come out and bully everyone else.
And this situation is not going to change, unless a third world war happens. And because no one wants a third world war (which would be devastating), everyone shuts up and let US do their thing. And the ones who don’t shut up, like France or the Arab countries, they pay for it in various ways.

That’s the whole thing: this *is* changing! Many respected people who know what they’re talking about are already quite sure which country will be the next superpower: China.
The US government knows this. It is not for nothing that the US is trying everything within its power to whoo China; even though strictly speaking China is still a communist country with no freedom or whatsoever– in essence the arch nemesis of the US (like Russia used to be). Yet the US doesn’t treat China the way they treat more meaningless countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and North Korea. And it’s quite obvious why.
First, China is already way too powerful to fcuk with. It has the biggest army (manwise), and all the advanced stuff that the US has too (nuclear weaponry, advanced fighter jets, intcontinetal missiles, satellites, you name it).
Secondly, China will be the biggest economic power of the world. There’s nothing stopping the 1.1 billion Chinese. Communistic, Capitalistic, or what they are now, Communocapitalistic (you heard that word here first, meh).
So, they kiss China’s ass because the US already knows it’s on its way out as the #1 (economically and militairy) of the world. Now it’s time the US people start realizing it too.
So, to get back to your statement– it IS changing.

Tell me, which part of the Quran prohibits burning the body facing West? There are provisions against cremation, however the Taliban doesn’t seem to care much about that when burning its victims, aye?

BTW, how is this a war crime? Which part of the Geneva Conventions prohibits burning dead bodies? Especially illegal combatants not covered by the Convention?
Comment by Rajan R — October 25, 2005 @ 2:57 pm
@ Rajan R: There is no such thing as an “illegal combatant”. It is a term created to arbitrarily by the US not recognized by the UN or even most US courts. If the War on Terror is really a War, the combatants have to be treated according to the Geneva convention. Otherwise, tomorrow, some other nation might decide UN peacekeeping troops are “illegal combatants” are therefore not covered by the Geneva convention. And the convention does state that the enemies AND THEIR DEAD have to be treated with respect as per THEIR traditions. For instance, you can’t piss on dead US soldiers even if that is the local custom. Respect is defined based on the customs of soldier who is being “ill-treated”. Read the treaty before commenting on it. Finally if you best (and only defence) is that the Taliban does it so can the US. You have a lot to think about when distinguishing Good and Evil but this will definitely justify the 25000+ civilian casualities in Iraq. I guess the US can say others have done it so can we.
