Eugenia, the US is already on its way out. Economically, the US is flat broke. Your social security system is, well, almost non-existant. Poverty rates are high.

All the ingredients are there for the superpower of the US to slowly fade away. The emptyness that's left will be filled by China.

I appologize for wording my posts as I had. I have a few Christian friends and I certainly wouldn't group them in with the people I was refering to. When I generalize, its generally to make what I say less wordy.

This is true, Chris. Problem is, the protestants out-voted all the rest and when this happens, non-US people like to generalize.

Kerry did very well in California for example, where people are more open minded, while Bush won the masses in the East and the South, where many people are very fundamentalistic about some things. When these people voted, they voted a president that is compatible with their ideas about family and religion, but they completely ignored Bush's behavior to other countries. I am sure that many of them that voted for Bush, don't agree with many things Bush did outside of US. And yet, they would vote for him again, just because Bush is "one of them" in terms of family ideals. This is what I call "side-voting": You support someone even if you don't agree with him on most points, but if that someone is compatible with you on your most important point, then all the rest points don't matter as much. In other words, the people who voted for Bush, they should simply change their priorities before changing any of their ideas or ideals.

Please don't group all us American Christains together! The Christains who have taken our government are right-wing protestants, mostly based in the South. They are Puritans bent on turning the clock back 100 years. Us Roman Catholics, as well as Quakers, methodists and Lutherans are far more moderate.

Sad as it is, I just wanted to add one more thing (as it is my belief):

Evil is the only thing that we were ever really good at.

Its in our nature to destroy. To subjugate. To control. I don't condone it, but I blieve it to be the way of things. We are dangerously primitive beings for all our fancy toys and knowledge.

It will take a while, but I really do see the US suffering the same fate as those middleeastern nations who they are now fighting against.

Fundamentalsit beliefs taking the center stage while rational thought is put on the back burner, more and more agressively defending their religious point of view.

Those in power outsourcing their businesses to other countries (who will eventually become the dominant world players because of it) and so on.

IIRC, there was a time centuries ago when the Islamic nations were the most advanced in the world. Look at them now. The US seems hell bent on going that way too.

Unfortunately, the only way to stop these countries, is with war. They don't care about your opinion. And if all countries start a war with US, then it would be a world war III. And remember what Einstein said about it: "I don't know exactly how World War 3 will be carried out, but I know that World War 4 will be done with stones and sticks."

So, no one will dare to do anything against the US. Not now, not in the future. And stop wishing for it, because you only show that you are a naive idealist. The only way you can put US or Israel (moderately) in place, is through economical pressures, with the help of China.
