Oh my God, Hamas! II

January 29, 2006

After a few days, it has become clear to me that at this point in time, it is actually a good thing that Hamas has won the elections. There are two reasons why:

  1. Contrary to Fatah, Hamas is a strong, well-structured organization. Because Fatah is disorganized, unstructered, and basically one big corrupt party, it has never been able to put a stop to the terrorist attacks on Israel, since no one ever listened to them. If there is one organization who can, then it’s Hamas;
  2. Contrary to Fatah, Hamas has been able to feed people. To provide healthcare to the people. Education. THIS is what Palestinian people think about when they hear Hamas

Hamas is a terrorist organization. However, in what are they different than the Dutch resistance during the 2nd World War? The Dutch Resistance fought against an aggressive force which occupied their nation. Hamas is fighting against an aggreesive force which is occupying their nation. The Dutch resistance used bombs and assasinations. Hamas uses bombs and assasinations.

The Dutch resistance is somehow something sacred in my country; it has a magical sound to it. Yet Hamas is something more awful?

Look, I do not approve of their bombs and all that, but we should never forget what they are fighting for. They are fighting for THEIR land, which is ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED by an agressor.

  1. Right. And let’s say that Hamas wins the war. Where are the Israeli’s are going to go? USA or UK won’t accept them, that would be against their laws of immigration.

    I am telling it to you again, because you have kinda dissapointed me on this issue, I expected you to be more open minded and see the problem more globally than locally. Both peoples must work together and share the land under a single leadership. Both peoples have occupied the same land for big periods of time throughout history. They should share and live happily thereafter.

  2. You are idealistic here. I HATE idealism, because it loses touch with reality.

    You see, I’m not for the destruction of Isreal, of course not. All Israel should do is give back the land they stole during the Six Day War, so that Palestine can exist, and prosper.

  3. >I HATE idealism

    Without idealism by some there won’t be nothing left for you to fight for.

  4. “The Dutch Resistance fought against an aggressive force which occupied their nation.”

    The problem with Hamas is that they attack innocent people to make their cause. If they attacked the Israeli soldiers or political leaders I personally wouldn’t have a problem. If they planned an attack against Sharon (not that it matters now…), I wouldn’t have a problem. Putting a bomb in a bus with women and children, that I have a problem with.
