Football is dying
June 27, 2006And yet again a faulty referee decision in favour of a big football nation: an off-side goal for Brazil. Adriano obviously stood off-side when he tipped in the ball; the TV images speak for themselves. However, the goal was correct, according to the referee and the linesman.
This shows the current referee system simply is not working. Where every other sport in the world relies on multiple referees and technical aids (i.e. video imagery), football is still stuck in the 1900s, simply because the FIFA is afraid of any form of change (FIFA is led by very, very old men).
The UEFA is much more open to change, however, even if they are the most powerfull football association outside of the FIFA, they can’t do it alone. Fcuk.
Football is dying. Seriously.

And the dutch team is dying with it :-)

Come on now Thom… because of a (possibly) 10 cm mistake you think football is dying???
I hope you get over it soon so you can enjoy the rest of the WC. It’s becoming more and more exciting, with great games to come (Brazil x France, Germany x Argentina, England x Portugal).

There have been a tremendous amount of errors on behalf of the referees this world cup. And the entire world sees it. Offside goal for Brazil, fake penalty for Italy, the cagefight Portugal-Netherlands… And we will see more.

The second goal was too fast, you can tell the line referee wasn’t able to get to his position in time and that’s why he made a mistake. When the game was 0-0 he also made a mistake, but against Brazil, taking from Ronaldo a clear chance to score. I don’t think your conspiracy theory holds up.
The Portugal-Netherlands game was a shame, sadly that would not have happened if we had seen a red card at 8 minutes and more mature players.
