You post is long on assertions and short on evidence. The US is such a religious extremist country that 47% don't even think religion is important in their lives and 60% don't attend churches (http://www.religioustolerance.org/rel_rate.htm).

Thom, some of your information is incorrect.

As stated above: abortion is legal in the United States, but there has been talk of making it illegal, but I doubt that abortion will be illegal outright for a very long time. The right to an abortion will simply be decided by the states. The more sane states will continue offering abortions whereas the neocon states will not.

Also, we do have programs for challenged individuals, such as welfare, granted it has been greatly reduced; there are still private charities which are as good - or in some cases better then publicly funded programs. We also have financial aid for colleges, both from public (both Federal and State levels) and private grants/scholarships. But also mentioned above in some parts of America there is a large stigma against getting a college education. My social problems professor has told stories in lectures about how former students hid their college careers form their parents because they knew it would make their parents angry. And that is the reason why so many people don’t have access to a good education, not because they don’t have the opportunity; there are plenty of inexpensive colleges/universities here, but because they don’t want to or can’t because of their family.

Now actually, there actually is a separation of church and state. Granted the government has well, made this a very gray line in recent years, but there is no government entity forcing one religious belief on the entire people nor is there a religious figure as the head of the state which is unlike most Islamic countries.

Finally, I agree with you 100% on the neocons, I cannot wait until 2008 when maybe, just maybe, we will have a president who a.) Has an iq of over 50 b.) Doesn’t have Cheney as a Vice-President and c.) Actually things of the people who he represents.

Abortion is legal in the U.S. So you can abort a rapist's baby.

As far as I know, Texas and Oregon have an assisted suicide law.

State's rights aren't completely dead.

Bill O'Reilly is a pompous windbag and is intellectually dishonest.

I think a good 30 per cent or so of the U.S. is just stupid.

They'll just believe everything neocons say, and a big chunk of the rest of us think the whole system is unfixable.

Pretty much dead-on save for the "rich white people" &amp; abortion part.

I assume you're talking about Blacks?

The only thing holding blacks back from being anything other than a sports-star is their present-cultures aversion towards education. Those that didn't grow up in such an environment are as capable as success as anyone. It's a trait that they should consider riding themselves of.

You should check out <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boondocks" rel="nofollow">Boondocks</a> created by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_McGruder" rel="nofollow">Aaron McGruder</a>

Previously hated minorities that have embraced education --while poor and under- prevalaged-- and are now prominent in society include: Jews, East-Asians(Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, etc.). Indians are also on the rise.

It's worth noting that most of them accomplished this without resorting to brutally unfair methods like "affirmative action" or in English "reverse discrimination". It has a certain ... Communist .. undertone that I exist for anyone but myself and should willingly step aside.
