Only 9 days left
November 13, 2006Only 9 days until election day (22 Nov.) in The Netherlands (for the Lower House). I was fairly confident I’d vote for Jan-Peter Balkenende and his CDA (Christian Democrats); our current prime minister. However, recently, I’ve been having my share of doubts.
I am considering giving my vote to the Party for Animals. What? Yes.
This party has never gained a seat in parliament, but they were always close. They are a party who want to have animal well-being and animal rights in our Constitution; they want stronger punishments for people who commit cruelty to animals, a complete prohibition of the bio industry (major point for me), and more of those sorts of things. When it comes to non-animal related points, they are slightly left of the political spectrum, but it is obvious that the animal part is what they are fighting for.
They are doing really well in the polls, currently getting 2-3 seats. I find their cause a noble one, and one that appeals to my heart and my emotions.

I am against the exploitation of animals. They are living creatures, not products.

So you’re against things like cosmetics testings, or everything, including medical research?
