Only about 1200 words more

About 5200 words.

A new essay?

No, just the GPLv3 final draft. If you need 5200 words to define how users and developers use your free and open source software, then there’s something seriously wrong with your definition and idea of ‘free and open source software’.

By the way, Apple’s Mac OS X Tiger license is only about 1200 words more. Interesting.

  1. If you need 5200 words to define how users and developers use your free and open source software, then there’s something seriously wrong with the people who will try to break the spirit of the GPL and steal your code.

I fixed it for you. :-D

  2. It seems between this rant and the one about MS Surface, you have truly shown how anti-FOSS you are. Why even bother to link FOSS stories? There are plenty of Microsoft only sites and OSNews could be another one. After all, does FOSS place any on-site ads? No, of course not but Microsoft does.

Go with your true feelings and be honest to yourself and the rest of us.

  3. Sure, I’m anti-FOSS. That makes total sense seeing I devote my spare time to the Haiku project.

  4. Maybe it’s only the GPL. I think RMS beat him up as a child, which is double strange because RMS was an adult then. :-P

  5. “f you need 5200 words to define how users and developers use your free and open source software, then there’s something seriously wrong with your definition and idea of ‘free and open source software’.”

Ahem, well, how should I put it… it’s easier to describe “you can’d do shit with this stuff”.

Maybe you should spend some quality time with large sw companies’ eulas and license agreements before you start complaining.
