How stupid we people really are

June 30, 2007

So, Jesus the iPhone has finally landed. God, am I happy we got that over with. I’ve never seen so much hype surrounding a glorified PDA. Things like this really remind you how stupid we people really are.

From reviews so far, it becomes pretty obvious the iPhone has the usual completely inexplicable Apple bugs features. It doesn’t do copy/paste. You can’t approach the filesystem. You can’t attach photos from within MobileMail.app. You can’t use it as a modem. The keyboard can’t be used in landscape mode. There’s no IM. The headphone jack is proprietary. It costs a kidney or two.

Can we now please return to sanity, everyone? I’m sure aliens who were planning to invade us saw the iPhone madness and thought, “ah fcuk that shit”.

  1. In fact, you CAN have the keyboard in landscape mode in Safari, but not on anything else. Check your “facts” before you post shit like this, ok?

  2. I completely understand, why the hell has the phone/PDA had so much hype? The BBC even turned half of their site into an Apple shrine (I exaggerate slightly) yesterday!

As a happy owner of a SonyEricsson p910i for nearly 3 years, and it wasn’t even the best at the time, I can’t see how everyone thinks this is such a big deal…

  3. I don’t see the big deal either. I’m very happy with my Treo 650, and it can do everything the iPhone does. The only part lacking is YouTube, but there may even be an app for that, I really couldn’t care though. The difference, I’m not stuck with one carrier, and I’ve got a real keyboard.

Artur, go to hell fanboy. Just because ONE app can use the keyboard in landscape does not make it a universal feature.

  6. BTW, with regards to “Can we now please return to sanity, everyone?” ain’t gonna happen. We really do suck that much.

I mean look at all the media coverage paris hilton is getting. Un-fricken-believable.

  7. “It doesn’t have a radio, no games, can’t be used as backup storage, can’t be addressed directly from the computer, is expensive. There are so many devices out there that can do more and better.”

That’s from 2001, a response to arrival of the iPod.

  8. Why all the Haiku hype ? Why all the Dead Like Me hype ? People like new things, and things from brands they trust. People like the underdog.

Apple’s iPhone, and Apple as well, have all of these elements, and eye candy too. The touch screen and interface and the sleekness are the selling points The hype will go away and people will discover any flaws and complain. Whining about a new product is kind of retarded. Of course it will be covered in the media, surely as the sun will rise in the morning. People aren’t waiting in line because they think it’s going to suck. Likewise, the media coverage of something people are excited about and waiting in line for is not unjust.

I think it’s worth noting that people waited in line for Star Wars Episode I, and we all know how that turned out. This could go either way. Also, Paris Hilton should die in fire. That is all.
