This blog entry reinforces something I read from you several months ago. You seem to prefer a dictatorship over democracy. It is true that dictatorships can get things done immediately....proclaim laws to 'fix' the environment, force car manufacturers to build true eco-friendly cars, etc. Look how efficient Germany was in the 40s and the USSR was the first to make it into space. However, history is full of examples where dictators went too far, became gods (in their own minds) and indiscriminately killed whomever they wished.

So before yelling to the rooftops that democracy is the way of stupid people, just make sure you don't get on an enemies list. Of course if that happens, environmental issues will be the last thing on your mind.

@Edwin: Radical changes?

In Ireland, the government started a "power of one" campaign and even though they make a poor argument - it's basically "we can't generate enough electricity to keep up with projected demand, stop leaving stupid-ass stuff on so we won't have to buy overpriced power from the UK grid". That's good enough for me.

The rest of the stuff I don't buy into, but I do see no point in leaving the TV on standby at night.

Thom, instead of pointing the finger at other people, please enlighten us as to what *you* are doing. What radical changes have *you* made? Maybe us hypocritical lowlifes can then learn from you what the right way of living is.

Well, the way it looked wasn't like that. It looked like you were saying "look, Eugenia watched that useless documentary and now she's supposedly a concerned citizen just because of that."

I just linked to it because it talks about the film, nothing more, nothing less. No need to get all worked up.

Thom, you are a prick. I can't say that clear enough.

So, what do you imply by linking to my blog the WAY you did? That I am an idiot for having watched a documentary? I AM a concerned citizen, and I ALWAYS WAS, even before Gore came around. By watching Gore's documentary, YES, it did educate some more and it did not made me a "wannabe" (and is not promotional marketing btw, go sit down your ass and watch it before you open your mouth). I would recommend everyone to watch it because it does speak the truth.

And besides, nobody disagrees with you that we need MASSIVE changes on the planet. But neither *I* or *you* can make such changes, the government can. All *I* can do is SOOTH the problem and not escalate it further (e.g. we are recycling vigorously at our home). Every little bit HELPS. And you know, it's not even about that little bit that can help today, it is about changing the way we think about the environment, so at least the NEXT generation of politicians will be brought up with more consciousness about the issue and hopefully it won't be too late (it is too late for Bush to "get it" for example).

So, be careful how you write about me when you are linking to my blog. I don't like your tone at all because it IMPLIES wrong things about me, about what I say, about what I believe, and most of all, about what I MEAN by blogging about something. Do not assume that you know everything about me because you don't. By linking to my blog post *the way you did* you showed a polemic behavior towards me and nobody would appreciate that.
