I'm a mere, tiny, insignificant cog in a whole clockwork of stupidity. I'm the tiny cog that wants to break free. Seriously.

Ah yes, definitely agreed, but I was more pointing towards other things. OSX boot sequence, for instance, is incredibly slick. It's sleep/wake cycles are near perfect. Behavioural consistency is incredible. Those sort of things.

But yes, graphically, OSX is lagging behind at the moment.

IMO there's a clear decline in Apple's human interface since Mac OS X was introduced.

My dream operating system would have:

the architecture of Windows XP
the development time of Amiga OS4 (one summer without access to the 3.9 sources?!)
the leadership of SkyOS
the requirements of Windows CE
the stability of Windows XP
the style of Vista
the third party support of Windows
the user community of SkyOS
and the hardware support of Windows XP.

My nightmare operating system would have:
the architecture of Unix
the development time of GNU Herd
the leadership of SCO
the requirements of Linux
the stability of MacOS
the style of Minux
the third-party support of GEOS
the user community of Linux
and the hardware support of my own SkunkyOS.
