A damn thing

October 6, 2007

I doubled the RAM in my laptop, from 768MB to 1.5GB. And you know what?

You don’t notice a damn thing in either Vista or Ubuntu.

  1. On cleanly installed machines, this is normal. You will only start noticing if you do heavy things, like video editing.

  2. Now you’ve got the RAM to easily run other systems in a virtual machine though. Could be handy.

  3. Thats because 768 is more than enough for ubuntu, and 1.5gb is still not enough for vista :)

  4. So, what you expected would happen? The sun would come out of nowhere on a rainy day?

For me, it means you deserve a slower laptop, and less memory. Because if you cant make any difference out of 768MB RAM you WASTE computer resources, it just stays there, sitting, useless…

If you don’t need it, donate to some open source initiative who can make something good out of the extra computing resources.
