Tie rip

October 19, 2007

Just now on the phone, with Renate, who just came back from a vacation in Egypt.

“You know that famous mask from Tutanchamun? 14 Kilograms of pure gold?”

“Yeah sure, saw it on TV and such…”

Tie rip.”

“Tie rip?”

“Yes, it’s secured with a tie rip. Nothing more.”

  1. I’ve heard these referred to as “zip ties” or “flex cuffs” when used by law enforcement.

Wikipedia has the generic entry as cable tie. Bleh. “AKA strap, zip tie, mouse belt, tie wrap, quick draw, or rat belt.

Tie rip ? I’d think it’d be the other way around. I’m surprised that isn’t on there. Cable binder could go on there too. The article looks a little sparse and dilapidated. Someone should edit that.

I found it slightly amusing that the picture you link to has them held together with rubberbands. If only there was something else that could be used…
