At Cebit I've seen some crazy keyboards, Thom.
Like the stuff they're using in the stock exchange.
With huge coloured keys, they could be up to 25 cm2 or even bigger and made of indestructible materials, big "SELL" and "BUY" buttons etc. So what you're looking for sort of exists.
No patience to track one down on images.google.
Steel and aluminum ones as well, ridiculously expensive. With big fat trackballs, a pain to use, but hard to destroy (for public pcs like in the libary).
Very cool, will cost you €500. :P

Well, one could also make a boss-keyboard, i.e. a keyboard with [only] keys like "forward to X", "forward to Y", "delete", "dismiss", "out-of-office", and so on.

Pretty good idea. You could do the first two easily for yourself with some sticky paper and keyboard mapping. The last is harder because I don't know any key large enough to use except the space bar.
