One thing
May 14, 2008Yesterday, my parents and I were back at the AVL cancer hospital.
I’m not going to say much about it, but there is this one thing.
Does anyone else find it unnervingly funny that dozens of people are frantically smoking cigarettes in front of the cancer hospital’s entrances?

Not so much funny, but rather ironic…
But the smoker in me can understand it though… ;-)

Actually it’s pathetic. It just shows how addicted these people really are.

It shows that people are not easily scared by facts.

“I can’t shake this feeling I’ve got. My dirty hands have I been in the wars. The saddest thing that I’ve ever seen, were smokers outside the hospital doors”

It is a sad thing, but you have to remember that a good number of people who are smokers were exposed to it long before they started themselves, and became addicted to it through no fault of their own.
It’s one thing to know that it’s really bad for you, completely another thing to get your body and brain to stop feeling like they need it.

Levi, my dad smokes, and my co-workers smoke, but I don’t get withdrawal for smokes when I’m at home.
Through no fault of their own? Hardly. If you play with fire, you will get burned.

Only if you want to laugh at it. I see it as being just plain sad rather than “unnervingly funny”. As for pointing out the pathetic addiction of people, I applaud you.
