Is it due to the commercial nature of it all, or due to women having all too many complexes and neuroses in general? 

I don't know any men who thinks that ultra thin fashion models would be their top ideal of women beauty. Nor do I know any men who has suffered from anorexia and similar health and eating problems. Most men I know don't much care for fashion industry nor for fashion models either... 

So it seems that this problem must be related to women themselves? Or am I wrong? I doubt it.

Granted, the fashion business must be quite stressful to many young models. It can explain some of the anorexia and other problems (drugs usage etc.). Young people become products who sell their body, or at least images of their body to fashion industry and to its customers.</description>
