For once, Eugenia and I agree - the BSG remake is overrated. It's certainly better than the original and it's had some great moments, but it's also really hard to take it seriously at times. The 2nd season finale and the first half of the third season were one giant exercise in jumping the shark - seriously, what's the point of doing a "One year later..." jump when they just hit the reset button a few episodes later?

I do still find it enjoyable, but for my money B5 still blows it out of the water.

I don't rate high BSG for the same reason, too much drama/soap. The handful good episodes of ST:TNG, and Lost, are my favorite scifi shows (btw, the writers said that season 5 of Lost will be much more "science fiction-y" -- their words).

I'm really looking forward to it. I love startrek :P

However, I really don't like BSG. I don't get everyones obsession. It's a fricken space soap opera. Its just way too drama-y for my tastes. I want a scifi epic, not soap. There is a distinction :P

OK, now you can show me the error in my ways ;)

The trailer shows an atmosphere that seems to do away completely with the past, and this is a very, very good thing.

This looks more like a prequel to TOS (although not aimed strictly at the hardcore fans) - while the new BSG basically ignores everything from the original series other than the basic premise and character names (not that that's a bad thing, of course).

Just judging from the trailer, it looks like there's much more reverence for the source material than we ever saw from Enterprise. I'm no hardcore fan, but the familiar little touches in the trailer made me smile - E.g., the TOS-style uniforms (though updated to look like uniforms instead of pajamas) and shuttlecraft.
