War never changes
December 19, 2008The end of the road.
That was Eugenia’s last blog post for a while. That’s not what I want to talk about, though. I want to talk about something else.
Today, right before Christmas, the 18th Dutch soldier has been killed in Afghanistan. Terrible news. Men in military uniforms informing the parents. Crying girlfriend. Friends grieving, maybe angry. No matter what you may think of the war, our men and women in the armed forces are working their behinds off trying to make this world a better place, and they deserve all the respect and admiration in the world. Having a good friend in the military really opens your eyes to just how professional, dedicated, and determined these men and women are.
As pathetic as it may sound, the Fallout series has the best way to describe war, and it seems ever so fitting in today’s world.
War. War never changes.
My sincerest condolences and sympathies to the soldier’s parents, friends, and relatives. It sure is the end of the road for them.

Well Thom, part of the reason he died, why the army went there n the first place, and why “we”‘re still there is the fact that so many people, including you, still believe the White House 9/11 conspiracy theory instead of just facing the facts and understanding that all this stuff was about finding an excuse to wage wars in the Middle East and Central Asia, and to scare people into submission.
I’m not going to debate any of this with you since you’ve displayed nothing but contempt in the past; just going to throw a link at you.
Very to-the-point German documentary

I’m against our presence there, and I was, and still am, against the war being waged over there. Don’t jump to conclusions.
And especially don’t say untrue, provocative statements followed by a “I’m-taking-my-ball-and-I’m-going-home” statement. It’s childish.

I never said you were for that.
But had the facts been effectively exposed long ago, the public would have resisted this “mission” much stronger than they have.

Eugenia quits her blog? Shocking!
Judging from her actions and her writing online, Eugenia is nothing more than a spoiled adult-child; to the point where she absolutely cannot stand to let anyone have the last word in an argument. And since she doesn’t possess the intellectual wherewithal to get the last word honestly, she just disables comments to stifle anyone who disagrees with her.
We all knew the blog shutdown was coming after her “I’ve disabled comments, no I’ve enabled them, no I’ve disabled them again” flip-flopping. She’s the very embodiment of “can dish it out, but can’t take it.” Except in her case, she’s so quarrelsome that she can’t even restrain herself from dishing it out - yet she’s so thin-skinned that she throws a hissy fit the second anyone calls her on her obvious BS.

I like Eugenia, she’s someone I’ve spoken to online on and off since 2000/2001. But Irony is Thy Name hit the nail on the head. Sometimes she makes statements that are pure flambait, sometimes they are ill informed or just plain wrong, sometimes they are of questionable morals or interpret a situation or idea badly. No matter what anyone says, she will go mad and crazy against anyone that tries to prove her wrong. To list a few, (1) her stance on utopia (herding people in to little communities and limiting birth numbers and other wacky stuff like that), (2) her stance on polygamy (as Thom can contest), (3) her ability to write articles on OS News that will rile people because they have little to do with anything subject matter that has been posted before, (4) the Prince vs Radiohead thing (where she couldn’t understand the difference between publishing rights vs performance rights.)
