Though
January 6, 2009What’s up with “tho”? Don’t people know how to write “though”?
“Tho” sounds a bit… Silly. I have a hard time taking someone seriously if they write “tho”.

If “tho” sounds silly then so does “though”, as they sound exactly the same… have to agree with you in general, though. Americanised alterations and abbreviations of English-language words tend to be ugly and the eyes of other English-speakers. I offer “thru” and “nite” as examples… the use of Z instead of S as in Americanized, etc.

Small words like that are usually written on advertising signs with limited space, e.g. drive-thru. No serious literature I read puts up with that crap.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone write “tho,” unless he or she was a 12 year old, or complete idiot.
