Attack on Dutch Royal Family, III
May 1, 2009Karst Tates, the man who performed the attack yesterday, has died in the hospital last night.
We will never know exactly what drove him to commit such an act of horror.
Worse yet, justice won’t be served. He got away scot-free.

Knowing the Dutch style of sentencing, justice wouldn’t be served either way.

Sadly, you’re right. Still, justice should’ve been served in a trial. It’s the least the victims should’ve gotten.

The news of the attack really touched me, and I’m not easily touched. I did not know what to do after the news. Some people changed there flag half-staff, on queens day, that made me very sad.
But to be honest I don’t like that whole justice thing. It’s sounds like “You harmed us, we’ll harm you”. That eye for eye thing is a bit uncivilised. Still I hoped that he would survive. It’s sounds that the man got into an anger frenzy due to personal problems, justice would have bin for him to see what he has done, after waking up from that frenzy.
But I really don’t belief in some justice-void due to him dying before a sentence. Sentence or no sentence, it won’t change the awfully things, and the world will continue the same either way.

Thom,
My condolences for this terrible event. Be glad the perpetrator is gone, not disturbed that it didn’t happen through the courts. The day we in America know Osama bin Ladin is toes-up we’ll be satisfied whether its because the armed forces got him, he had a falling out with his fellow murderous thugs or he died of natural causes.

I was shocked too when i saw it on tv,
i was celebrating queensday with some friends and we turned on the TV because we heard someone talk about the attack and obviously we didn’t believe it when we heard it.
But then we saw it on TV really shocking:S

Since when is dying equivalent to getting away ’scot-free’?
